Project Dialogue Vol.5-Surviving as an Artist    (Seoul Museum of Art 2011)

 

To explain artists' thoughts, skepticism and difficulty to viewers who may be uncomfortable with modern art, I arranged a place for the conversation of artists and viewers by using research-formed present.

I arranged 4 parts-Art Report, Artist Fear, Inspiration, Archive (include chalkboard for the people)-cooperated with 100 artists, proceeded the research 'Artist Suffer' .

so every work’s base on the result of this research, I show the result various way using text (Art Report), artist’s inspirable object (Inspiration), artist’s failed works.(Artist Fear)

It is formed by survey with 10 questions targeting 100 artists, table made of their turkeys (their difficulties will be presented by text on their works, inspirational room for them, archive with artists' portfolios and experts' opinions, and blackboard for questions and answers from the survey for viewers.

Project Dialogue vol.5- 예술가로 살아남기
 

Dialogue project 중 가장 먼저 발표하게 된 vol.5 예술가로 살아남기 입니다.

이번 주제는 2009년 발표한 Dialogue Archive(소마드로잉센터)의 대화 중 현대미술관에서 작가들의 생각과 작품을 이해하지 못하는 일반 대중들의 대화에서 시작됐습니다. 실제로 많은 대중들은 여전히 고전 작품에 익숙하며 현대미술에 대한 이해도는 매우 낮은 실정입니다. 다양한 현대작품을 수용하는 대중들의 기반이 없이는 순수 작가들의 삶은 경제적 문제 뿐 아니라 작품을 해나가는데 많은 실망과 회의감을 갖게합니다.

이번 프로젝트는 작가들의 생각과 회의감, 어려움 들을 대중에게 리써치 형식으로 보여줌으로써 대중과 현대 미술의 거리를 좁히고자 했습니다.

이 프로젝트의 기본은 바로 위에 보여지는 리써치 입니다.

서울시립미술관의 작가 지원프로그램인 전시 SeMA, 난지 창작스튜디오, SeMA  신진작가 지원프로그램의 작가 100여명을 상대로한 이번 설문의 내용은 주로 예술가로서 살아가는 어려움과 회의감 그리고 모방과 영감에 대한 10가지 질문에 대한 결과입니다.

작가들에게서 모은 버리거나, 망쳤거나, 보여주기 주저하는 작품들로 만든 테이블_300x400x80cm_2010 

 

A survey asking 100 artists about ‘difficulties of living as an artist’ is carried out. This work consists of the art report statistically showing its result, Artist Fear, an installation made in the form of a table through joint work with 10 artists, and the archive space in which artists ask viewers and viewers answer. The artists’ stories are displayed in text design.

작가들에게서 모은 버리거나, 망쳤거나, 더이상 보여주기 싫거나 초기작들과 그 사연들을 모아 작가들의 고민을 담은 테이블 형태의 설치작품으로 만들었습니다.
